Maybe this will be the launch of the rumored x-engine and improved dev tools that microsoft put out recently.
I was very surprised to see a new Halo announced before Gears 3. Microsoft had said shortly after Gears 1 launched that they would be alternating between Gears and Halo each year. Maybe they will release both Gears 3 and Halo: Reach in the same year. They would eat up some of each other's sales, but that would make a killer holiday for 360 sales, especially with Project Natal launching at probably about the same time.
I won't believe in DD until i can have a box on my entertainment center that can instantly stream any movie i want in full 1080p with the quality of BD, with full 7.1 surround sound and full access to all bonus features. Until then give me Blu-ray for purchases, with DD MAYBE for some rentals. I also have much more shelf space than harddrive space, and would rather not have to transfer all those files when i upgrade hardware.
You were a bit harsh, but i, for one, don't think you really need to apologize for asking him to support his claim with evidence. We can't just start believing things we hear from random people on the internet, after all. By all means, apologize for the "talking out of your ar$e comment, though.
I will agree that it isn't as impressive as shown in the staged promo videos, though.
You're getting some disagrees, but i agree with you. I think Sony was testing those waters with the EyeToy, but it got a fairly cool reception. If they had, back then, had the perspective that the Wii has brought to the industry, they could have really captured the casual market that the Wii has now.
There is actually a video from five years ago in which Richard Marks talks about how they were, at the time, working with the exact same technology that Project Natal now uses: the...
Nathan Fillion as Drake and Jewel Staite (played Kaylee on firefly) as Elena Fisher.
Hilarious.
Quote (not verbatim, from the top of my head):
Dr. Horrible to his roommate: "Hey, How'd your double-date with Bait and Switch go?"
roommate: "Meh, I thought I was gonna end up with Bait, but..."
Dr. Horrible (sympathetically): "oh, yeah. I know how that goes."
The first time i played the Uncharted DEMO, before i was impressed with the graphics, before i was impressed with the gameplay, i watched the cutscene and thought "If they ever make a movie of this, they have to get Nathan Fillion to play this guy."
I really like Jason Bateman, I think he is awesome for roles like the one he had in Arrested Development, but his comedic delivery is just a little too DRY to play Drake.
...is that he doesn't look much like Drake. He obviously has the voice (not so important tbh) and the mannerisms, and i feel bad wishing for someone else to take the role from him, but i'm a big Nathan Fillion fan and i think he is just TOO perfect for this role.
This happens all the time. A RUMOR of something awesome coming from Sony, then the actual announcement happens and people are disappointed.
It's almost like some Sony haters are behind these rumors in order to make it look like Sony is always disappointing by under delivering.
go into tools and delete cache, cookies and such. That often fixes the problem for me, but not always.
I just checked out the article about Joost on Ps3, and in that article it states that Hulu expressly forbids use on anything other than PC. Maybe they want to make sure nobody is getting a crappy service from them and they've only tested themselves for PC.
PSN has "Players Met" list of last 50 players met, too.
PSN does have cross game text chat instead of Windows messenger. XBL still wins this point because of communication with PC users, but it's a smaller victory.
I THINK PS3 allows for video chat of more than 2 people, but i'm not sure (edit: Clintos59 below says 6 person video chat, that sounds familiar).
About those "upcoming features."
-Facebook and Twitter: PSN has web browser allowin...
Just like Microsoft added HDMI to keep up with Sony, Sony has had to keep up with Microsoft. Competition is good. That's why i don't want to see any one company dominate the industry.
I think online games should require you to be speaking with your teammates if anyone. Though most random games nobody is working as a team anyway.
I've also heard that some cheating can happen when using cross-game chat in the same game, like that you can talk to dead teammates when it isn't allowed in the in-game chat.
Simply put, i am not interested in playing online enough to pay for it. I just don't play online enough to be worth paying for, but when it's free it's an awesome addition.
On both sides.
You got that right. My Samsung TV has a feature that, if it is linked via HDMI to other Samsung equipment, they can all be worked off of each other's remotes. eg. if i want to watch a Blu-Ray, i just turn on the blu-ray player and the receiver and TV would turn on to the correct input/output. Sadly I only have the TV with this feature, but if Sony made this type of thing work with the PS3, you can bet that when i upgrade i would buy a Sony TV and reciever.
